Yesterday, I went for the second time to Plaza Dorrego fair. I have written about my first experience here on this blog post. Saw some interesting Tango artifacts.
El Afronte was a live band that was playing some Tango music.
The bandoneón is a type of concertina particularly popular in Argentina and Uruguay. It plays an essential role in the orquesta típica, the tango orchestra. Bandoneon is no more manufactured. All the present ones that exist are years old and cost a lot. With its arrival in Argentina around 1870, the bandoneón was adopted by those wishing to incorporate it into the Milonga music of that time (which requires a very fast player indeed). What sprang from that is Tango. The Argentinian composer and tango performer Ástor Piazzolla was the leading proponent of the bandoneón in the 20th century.
