Pretty Food

I am not a foodie. Nor do I propagate to being one. In fact, I firmly believe that one should eat to live not live to eat. The foods I am showing below are not what I advice eating but somethings that have just visually appealed to me a lot. They seemed like artistic creations. More than the food itself, I liked the way they were served. Hence a post on these. All these were in Shanghai on our different trips.

High Tea. Look at his expression and the look.

Can you believe it- that it is Garlic- oven baked.

Mezze Platter in Mashrabiya- Delhi.

And here comes my personal flavorite. Whenever i go out to eat, chances are out of 10 times, 8 times this would be my order, without even looking at the rest of the menu.

Insalata Caprese (pronounced, “Ka-Pray-zeh,” and not “Ka-Preez”)

Buffalo Mozzarella can be found in the specialty cheese section of your local supermarket.  Also, be careful not to get a tomato that is too mushy as it will ruin the texture of the dish.

  • 1 ball of buffalo mozzarella cheese
  • 1 firm vine tomato
  • 4 leaves of fresh basil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Wedge of lemon
Cut the tomato and the mozzarella cheese each into four individual slices.  On a plate, layer tomato, slice of cheese, basil leaf, and repeat.  Drizzle approximately 2–4 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil.  Sprinkle ½–1 teaspoon of salt over the salad.  Add a couple cracks of fresh ground black pepper.  OPTIONAL: add a wedge of lemon for a person to squeeze the juice over the salad if desired!
