As a kid, I had keenly watched Lady Diana's wedding live telecast and had instantly fell in love with her.
Today, I watched Kate Middleton and at the back of my mind were the images of Diana.
Kate Middleton arrived at Westminster Abbey wearing an ivory and lace gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

The new Duchess of Cambridge's bridal gown mirrored the one worn by Grace Kelly for her 1956 wedding to Ranier III of Monaco. Like Catherine, she was a commoner who married into royalty.
The dress, famously designed by husband and wife team David and Elizabeth Emanuel, was to all intents and purposes a giant meringue. The train was famously 25ft long. The dress itself was made of silk taffeta, lace and was hand embroidered with over 10,000 pearls. The shoulders of the dress were made so large in order to make Diana’s waist look even smaller.
I wanted soo much to be wowed by Catherine's dress. I was wowed by Diana's, wowed by Grace's but unfortunately underwhelmed by Catherine's dress. Oh well, till the next royal wedding!

Kate's dress today was much nicer than Diana's 'giant meringue'.

I was a great fan of Diana. When she died an untimely death I was very sad. a VERY GRACEFUL AND COMPASSIONATE WOMAN.
ReplyDeleteI liked Kate's dress for its simplicity and elegance.
Kate wore a simple yet classicly elegant dress. I love that upon closer inspection, there is beautiful embroidery all over. It's the details that matter!

You have Great style and thanks for stopping by my blog. I am now following your blog.
ReplyDeletei prefer Kate's dress
ReplyDeleteI like both dresses. I too am a great fan of Diana and I think, considering she was just 20 when she got married, it was fine for her to wear such a little-girl over-the-top fluffy pretty frills and long train dress. Lets not forget Katherine is almost 30 so it behoves her to wear a less flamboyant gown. Both were beautiful - brides are always lovely and so are grooms. I wish for them the freshness and happiness of their wedding day throughout their lives.
ReplyDeletenice...lovely dresses....
