NEVER BEFORE have four international headliners of Indian origin been on the same stage.  THIS SHOW WAS NOT TO BE MISSED. I saw the show in  Epicentre, Gurgaon. Throughout the show I was laughing so much. It was hilarious. I just loved it. Indian stand-up comedian of international repute, Papa CJ, introduced three of his friends from the US comedy circuit.  RAJIV SATYAL has repeatedly opened for Dave Chappelle, Kevin Nealon, Tim Allen, Daniel Tosh, and also for Russell Peters in sold-out theaters across the  U.S.A. AZHAR USMAN is the co-founder of the wildly popular “Allah Made Me Funny—Official Muslim Comedy Tour,” which has toured over 20 countries. India's very own PAPA CJ was recently called the #1 stand-up comedian in India by the Times of India and Toastmaster International magazine called him one of the most influential comedians around the world. HARI KONDABOLU has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and been on Comedy Central multiple times. He was also part of th...

Just joking

I had written this post some time back.  Check it here I guess it is time to reiterate it. Ample number of times, people (read insensitive people/Bimbos), say any lame things and try to get away with it as- "I was joking", "mazak kiya tha", "I was pulling your leg". My answer to it is that, joke/Mazak, is something on which everyone laughs equally. If, even one person, in the whole group feels bad about what is said, it is no more a joke. It has crossed the line. I call it "badtmeezi" (being rude). Do not ever accept such situations. If you feel bad, it certainly was not a joke because it did not make you laugh. On the contrary, you felt bad. Voice it out. Do not stay quite about it, even if it causes symbolic bloodshed. Do not let the other party get away with it, at your expense and even make you feel worse by saying that you do not know how to take jokes in right perspective/in good humor. Because in your view point it was not a good but a pat...

Jokes

Today a fellow blogger wrote this line-   'If you can't take jokes, never crack any '! My comment would have become a full fledged post. So I thought, I better write an individual post on this. Ample number of times, people (read insensitive people), say any lame thing and try to get away with it as- "I was joking", "mazak kiya tha", "I was pulling you leg". My answer to it is that, joke/Mazak, is something on which everyone laughs equally. If, even one person, in the whole group feels bad about what is said, it is no more a joke. Do not let the other party get away with it, at your expense and even make you feel worse by saying that you do not know how to take jokes. Be sensitive to other...

Jokes for obesity

When you climb on weighing scale- the scale reads- To be continued. When you climb on weighing scale, the scale starts talking and says- please come one by one. You cant get photos clicked, only your posters can be made. I am very motivated- moti (fat in hindi) + weighted- to loose weight. Kelly is so fat, he shows up on radar. The guy is so fat, he leaves footprints in concrete! One guy was so fat, he had his own area code. You are so fat NASA orbits satellites around you. Kelly is so big, he plays hopscotch like, "Texas...Alabama...North Carolina...Pennsylvania..." I know a lady named Paulette that is so fat she has to wake up in sections. And then there is Judy.  She has so many double chins she looks like she is staring at you over a pile of pancakes. Seriously though, Judy isn’t fat, she insists she’s just 4 feed too short. But Paulette takes the cake.  Once she jumped into the gulf here in Panama City and the tide came in at Myrtle Beach. Your mama's so fat, when sh...

Happily Un-Divorced

I came across t his article . Check the link here. I so much agree with it. On facebook we have different relationship status. I guess, one more should be added and that is- Happily Un-Divorced. I personally know ample number of people- all married and yet leading their separate lives. Not choosing to  get divorce for various personal reasons. Yet, living in separate bedrooms, moving in different directions of life, even choosing to have extra marital relationships.  People who are their friends, are absolutely non judgemental about it. And these people are quite frank and open about their Happily Un- Divorced status. There are people I know, who would react to this situation on the grounds of morality etc. But, as I always say, " only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches". What do you have to say about this issue?

Wannabe slangs

How comfortable/uncomfortable are you with slangs? Which are the ones, you use, most commonly and which are the ones that you find very disgusting? Well, the one that I certainly do not like/appreciate is the usage of "mah" or "ma" instead of "my". Even on on professional resume, I saw someone writing "I run mah own..." What's wrong people? Am I too old fashioned or is this generation very dumb? Such people who think, they look/sound COOL, to me they appear to be a FOOL. OK on a very humorous note. Here is a real life incidence of my Guruji, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji. Guruji is very well read and speaks many languages fluently. He has a child like innocence and it is fun to be with him. Also, even though, he has great command over several languages, he seldom uses/understands slangs.  Now recently Delhi International Airport had opened its new Terminal- T3. Delhites, being their typical true self, were over critical of it. Now few devotees were...

Another chat from Ladies Room

It happened all innocently enough. My girlfriend logged in on Facebook when she saw on her homepage her boyfriend's comments on another girl’s picture. He wrote “wow who is this?? :)” The girl replied, “do you want her no” and he said, “I would lv to :) intro would be welcome ;)” Looking around she found a few disturbing things. Number one, he listed his interests as women. Number two he was looking for friendship and relationship. He had mostly women as his Facebook friends. Was he trying to start a harem here? Number three he was flirting with these women! He was leaving messages for women saying that they looked really good. Blah! I nearly choked on my drink hearing my friend. This was her honey, her sweetie who was saying complimentary things to other women. Gnawing at the bit she confronted him. Summoning all her powers of PMS she calmly and rationally smsed him that he should “stop flirting with other women on facebook”. OK so explained the last few things to the wall becaus...

After a long Hiatus- A chat from Ladies Room

Yes a note not on fitness but something that I find more relevant. You go out on a date with a lovely man one evening and kibitz about it afterwards with your friends. "I hope he calls," - because how could he not? The two of you spent hours getting to know each other better, even going so far as to share an amazing kiss at the end of the night. Your friends in turn tell you how amazing and wonderful you are. Of course he'll call! Yet, two weeks later, he still hasn't. A slew of excuses are made in his defense: he's really busy at work, maybe he ran into his ex or perhaps he lost the piece of paper with your number on it. A man is, "...made up entirely of your excuses. And the minute you stop making excuses for him, he will completely disappear from your life." Sometimes when we meet someone new and we fancy him, it is easy to ignore the warning signals and miss the fact that he might not be as keen as we are in return. We want the happy ending so much w...

Indian Pronunciation in fitness

Working in a fitness centre is a good way to learn a couple of geography lessons. If a chaste (chest) muscle is being worked out, it is a Maharashtrian who is working out: A cheztt Maazul would make him Tamil:a good Warrkout would mean that he is a Keralite: and c hest moosekul means he's from Delhi or beyond. The North-East has its own version: the chess-mas-sa . I was once training an American and said " abdomen " in my Hinglish. He had to ask me thrice before he got what I was saying and then laughed and corrected me that it is ab-dmen . Not that I was making any specific and deliberate O sound as in go but where you emphasized the word, also mattered. I have even heard a Kanedda (Canada) based Indian aunty saying, " Beta aaj baar naa jaana. Oothe Windan blondian ne ". ( Son don't go outside. Winds are blowing). And " Open the window, let the wind (air) come in ". and " The teacher is revolving in the corridor ". and " I...

Workout Shoes

Image
When I did my first course from Reebok , we were a batch of about 15 people. We were given big lecture on the importance of footwear. It was drilled in us that an aerobic shoe has to have good cushioning both in the heels and forefoot, ankle support ( because aerobics is lot of lateral move also not just forward move as in running), arch support, breathable (to absorb sweat), and bla bla bla. They even taught us what all goes inside making a good shoe and the terminology was drilled in us as fitness trainers. Every year, the batch of aspiring fitness trainers were taught this and a question on importance of shoe would be mandatory in the test. We would mug up all the points. They recommended, "different shoe for different activity." Now, as I certified as a trainer and came in the industry to work, I was fresh burst of energy, ready to flaunt my newly acquired knowledge. Fortunately, I quickly got my first, very prestigious personal training. Nervous yet excited, I met my fi...
