People these days are confusing being alone with being lonely or vice a versa. One might be alone but not lonely. Rather being surrounded with wrong people, might make you lonely.
I feel lost and lonely amongst two faced and superficial people and I feel complete and happy amongst my close and simple friends. It is overwhelming to be a part of the tribe or herd. Owning yourself on the other hand is a great experience. People fight their loneliness by being part of big crowd and they get even more lost, empty and depressed. Have simple relations, few genuine friends, not facebook friends or just friends with whom you pose in pictures. Have friends who are your 4AM friends, who you can call at any time of the day or night, who are there for you when you are sick and in bed not just to party with you. There is no need to "fit in", to be "seen at", to "be a part of", feel the need "to be accepted". Whom and what are you trying to prove? Is it even worth proving? Does anyone actually care? And if you really want to prove anything to anyone, prove that you do have a single genuine friend. That is a bigger achievement than proving that you can be seen at 10 social do's , stand with 20 fake faces and pose in 40 pictures. At the end of the day, it is not how many friends you have that matter. It is the quality of your friends that is more important. Having few true friends is better than having many artificial ones. Fake friends are easy to find and easy to loose but real friends are hardest to find and hardest to loose. True friends are like diamonds- precious and rare. False friends are like autumn leaves- scattered everywhere. For once try being yourself, without any hang ups. For once have a real and true friend who is understanding, caring, non judgemental. Have a soul mate. Someone you care for and who cares for you. Then you would neither be lonely nor alone ever.
